Dog Registration, Microchipping and Desexing
Did you know that new laws require dogs to be microchipped and desexed?  All dogs over 12 weeks of age must be microchipped. Dogs born after 1 July 2018 must be desexed by 6 months of age. All dogs over the age of 3 months must be registered on Dogs and Cats Online (DACO). DACO is the state-wide database for dog registration. DACO allows dog owners to login online any time and update their contact details in one place and pay annual dog registration. To register your dog visit www.dogsandcatsonline.com.au or visit the council office for assistance.  For more information on the new dog and cat laws please visit www.dogandcatboard.com.au

Registered Breeders
Did you know there are new laws regulating the sale of dogs? If you are selling dogs, you must register as a breeder on Dogs and Cats Online (DACO). Breeders must not sell a dog unless it has been microchipped. Any advertisement you place for the sale of a dog must include your contact details and breeder registration number, this includes the sale of dogs on Facebook.  To become a registered breeder please visit www.dogsandcatsonline.com.au.  For more information on breeding, selling and buying please visit http://dogandcatboard.com.au/breeders/

Prescribed number of dogs
Did you know that council has a dog By-Law which limits the number of dogs that can be kept at premises? For a premise in a township, the By-Law allows a maximum of two dogs. The maximum number of dogs that can be kept at a premise outside of a township is three dogs, with the exception of working dogs. Should you wish to keep more than the prescribed number of dogs, an application to Council must be made. Application forms can be found at the council office or via council’s website.

Dog Reporting
We need YOU. Council requires the assistance of the community to keep public spaces enjoyable and safe by proactively reporting dog wandering at large, dog attacks, aggressive dogs and barking dogs. Reports can be made confidentially in person at the council office or by calling 8767 2033 during office hours or 0438 672 033 after hours.
