Eligibility

If you are eligible to vote in the council elections, you may also be eligible to stand for a position on council.

Becoming a councillor presents the opportunity to influence local directions and create long term, positive outcomes within your community and for fellow residents. The role of councillor is both rewarding and challenging. It requires commitment, responsibility and accountability.

You can make a difference to everyday life in your community by nominating for council. Download the Information Booklet or visit the LGA website for more information on nominating to be on Council.

How to nominate

Nominations opened on Tuesday 23 August 2022 and will close at 12 noon on Tuesday 6 September 2022. We recommend submitting as early as possible to allow sufficient time for you to amend your nomination in the event it’s not accepted.

If you need guidance or would like further information about nominating to be on Council, please refer to the nomination kit below.
