Kingston District Council is inviting public feedback in regard to its draft Mobile Business Policy.
In 2018, changes to the Local Government Act 1999 made it mandatory for all Councils in South Australia to adopt guidelines for the operation of mobile food vans. The introduction of this legislation means that councils cannot refuse to issue permits for the operation of mobile food businesses, however, provides the ability for councils to regulate where mobile food businesses can trade through the implementation of location rules.
The policy seeks to provide a balanced approach to mobile business activities, while also considering the position and views of fixed business operators and residents, thereby encouraging the use of outdoor spaces and increasing the vitality of the area.
