Questions & Answers

Q.  Why is there no postal delivery to Cape Jaffa?

A.  (as advised by Australia Post)

Not all local farmers have a delivery service, only those who happen to be on an Australia Post delivery address may access roadside delivery through what is known as a ‘private mail bag’ (PMB).

Cape Jaffa does not have enough population for Australia Post to consider a delivery service.  It  should be noted that only a small portion of Kingston SE receives postal delivery, with outer lying areas such as Pinks Beach and Rosetown also not able to receive postal delivery.

I have been advised that Cape Jaffa residents have a significantly reduced rate for their post boxes, being almost half of what the prescribed fee is.

Q. What is the latest info about what is happening with the extension of town water and sewerage?

A.  Council is investigating the expansion of the existing sewerage system known as the community wastewater management system (CWMS). Council has received funding to develop a concept plan for the proposed expansion and Council is currently undertaking a detailed analysis including assessing the financial implications of expanding the CWMS. The detailed analysis is expected to be completed within 2 months and Council will then consult with the community and make a decision on proceeding with the expanded CWMS. In relation to the water supply, SA Water is responsible for the supply and Council has kept SA Water informed regarding the potential expansion of the CWMS. If the expansion of the CWMS proceeds, Council will again raise the issue of expanding the water supply in Kingston.

Q. What size will the land division blocks be in the Toop Road area?

A.  Rezoning of the land will be subject to concurrence by the Minister for Planning.  If rezoning is successful, envisaged allotments will be in order of 1-5 hectares, depending on the layout, intended roads/infrastructure, natural features and existing development/allotments, to list just some of the influencing factors.
