I Farm Well

ifarmwell is a free online tool kit to help farmers cope effectively with life’s challenges and get the most out of every day, regardless of the circumstances they face.

ifarmwell has been designed based on what Australian farmers have said they want and what research shows will help. Their mission is to equip farmers with new tools that reduce the negative impact that stressful situations have on their lives, so they have more time and energy to focus on the things that make them happy. The ifarmwell modules are designed to help farmers effectively manage things beyond their control and get the most out of life, regardless of the circumstances they face. They are free, farmer-focused, confidential and accessible anytime via the internet.

You DO NOT need to be experiencing a mental health problem to benefit from doing the modules. We can all benefit from tips on things like how to make better decisions, focus on what’s important and spend less time caught up in worries in our heads. If there’s a member of the farming community you’d like to lend a hand to, do them a favor and share this with them today.

R U OK?

Got a feeling that someone you know or care about isn’t behaving as they normally would? Perhaps they seem out of sorts? More agitated or withdrawn? Or they’re just not themselves. Trust that gut instinct and act on it. Learn more about the signs and when it's time to ask R U OK? Here (Insert link - https://www.ruok.org.au/signs)

By starting a conversation and commenting on the changes you’ve noticed, you could help that family member, friend or workmate open up. If they say they are not OK, you can follow our conversation steps to show them they’re supported and help them find strategies to better manage the load. If they are OK, that person will know you’re someone who cares enough to ask.

Stay Afloat

Stay Afloat Australia is the national mental health program for the Australian seafood industry, run by Seafood Industry Australia (SIA) and supported with funding from the Australian Government Department of Health’s Mental Health Emergency Response. Mental Health is one of SIA’s top priorities and sits under the key priority area of Wellbeing along with SIA’s industry-specific safety program Sea Safe.

  • 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year
  • Almost 50% of us will experience a mental illness in our lifetime
  • Mental illness and physical injury and illness often happen concurrently

Studies have shown that in key parts of the seafood industry, more people than the typical population experience mental illness and a number of chronic physical conditions too.

Having information and talking to each other makes a difference.  Download any of the Stay Afloat tools and have a read, even better, chat about them with a friend or family member.
