Cape Jaffa Development

The Kingston District Council and Cape Jaffa Development Company have recently brought about a closure to all joint contractual obligations related to the marina development at Cape Jaffa on mutually agreeable terms. Following negotiations over a considerable period of time, the parties have transferred the remaining development land from Council to the Developer completing all contractual matters between them.

In the period since the Cape Jaffa marina was declared a Major Project development in December 2002, the Developer has contributed significant marine based public infrastructure and assets including boat launching and wash down facilities, commercial and recreational marina berthage, wharf, refuelling facility, secured hardstand, 50T boat hoist and purpose-built lifting bay, premium waterfront housing allotments and open spaces. Since commencement of construction, the marina development at Cape Jaffa has provided regional employment opportunities and contributed to the establishment and growth of several local businesses.

Both parties are pleased to have reached this significant milestone and believe that the natural conclusion of the relationship will simplify and encourage further investment at Cape Jaffa.

Advance Notice – Private Road Closures

The transfer of the development land will result in the permanent closure of two temporary access roads, being Boatview Place and the King Drive extension.  As evidenced in the maps below, these roads were always intended to be temporary and are now situated on private property. Council has negotiated a short-term lease with the land owner until 31 October 2023, after which time the roads will be permanently closed.

After 31 October 2023, access will be via Seafarer Way and Rothalls Road, which Council acknowledges will be an unavoidable inconvenience for some residents.
