Brushstrokes for Better - Kingston Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Mural
The Brushstrokes for Better project saw a collaborative approach to public art in Kingston SE, as Council partnered with the Kingston/Robe Hospital Advisory Committee to deliver some incredibly vibrant, large scale mural art on the walls of the Kingston Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.
Grant funding was received through Country Arts SA and the Australia Government’s Regional Arts Fund to secure an artist to deliver two transformational murals, based on the theme of native flora and fauna, and bush medicine.
A competitive process was undertaken, with artist Taylr Jay chosen to deliver works based on a local brief, designed by local people. The project afforded a local artist, Sage Jupe, to receive mentorship with Taylr Jay, and also an open community painting day.
