Vote in the Election

Voting is your chance to influence how your community grows, changes, and is supported over the next four years. Voting in council elections isn’t compulsory - but your community is worth it.

In council elections, your vote determines who represents you in your council area. They're responsible not only for the services they must provide (such as waste collection, footpaths, and park management) but also for services that their community wants.

You must be enrolled on the South Australian electoral roll to be eligible to vote. If you are unsure if you are enrolled, you can check your enrolment status.

Voting in council elections is conducted by post. You will receive your voting ballot pack in the mail. It will be sent to the postal address recorded on the voters roll. The mailout of ballot packs begins after nominations close, from Thursday, 15 October to Wednesday, 21 October 2026.

Your ballot must arrive prior to the voting close date of 5:00pm on Wednesday, 7 April 2027. It is recommended that you post your vote before Wednesday, 31 March 2027.

Electoral Commission SA will count the votes commencing on Saturday, 10 April 2027, and will provide the provisional declaration of the elections on their website.
