MEDIA RELEASE - 19 OCTOBER 2026
At a Special Meeting of the Council on Thursday 15 October 2026, it was determined to conclude its employment relationship with the Chief Executive Officer, Ian Hart, effective 5:00pm on Monday 19 October 2026.
Having regard to the Council's current and future organisational needs, strategic priorities and leadership demands, the Council has decided that a change in executive leadership is in the best interests of the organisation.
The Council sincerely thanks Ian for his service and his commitment to the Kingston community since he joined the Council in January 2024.
To ensure stability and continuity in the Council's day-to-day operations, the Council has appointed its Director Corporate Services, Heather Schinckel, as the Acting Chief Executive Officer, effective 5:00pm on Monday 19 October 2026, for a short period until it determines interim leadership arrangements.
The Council will shortly commence the process for recruiting a new Chief Executive Officer.
The Council remains fully committed to delivering high-quality services to the Kingston community and progressing the initiatives that matter most to our ratepayers.
The Council will not be making any further comment on this matter.
