Vale Councillor Chris England

Published 18th September 2025

It is with great sadness that Kingston District Council acknowledges the passing of Councillor Chris England.

Chris has been a dedicated leader and advocate for the Kingston District Council and his community, having served as a Councillor for an incredible 30 years – a true testament to his commitment to public service.

Chris was first elected in May 1995 where he represented the northern part of the District being the Coorong and Watervalley Wards for 15 years prior to Council’s structure changing where he then represented the entire community as an Area Councillor for a further 15 years. During this period he served as Deputy Mayor for 8 years, from November 2010-2014 and again from 2018-2022.

Councillor England’s dedication, leadership and valuable contribution to the District will leave a mark on our Council and wider community, and his voice of reason and experience will be deeply missed.

Mayor, Elected Members and Staff extend our deepest condolences to Liz, Sarah, Rachel, Claire, James and their families at this time.

Chris’ funeral will be held at 11am on Tuesday 23 September at the Kingston Town Hall, with a wake to follow at the Kingston Football Club.

Please note that the Ordinary Council Meeting scheduled for Tuesday 23 September has been adjourned to Tuesday 30 September, commencing at 3pm.
